Salma and Francois-Henri

Salma Hayek and her fiance Francois-Henri Pinault their adorable little newborn Valentina Paloma out for a walk in Manhattan’s Central Park yesterday afternoon. The new parents even stopped for a romantic kiss while out on their stroll-awww. Also, is it just me or is Mr. Pinault looking better than ever? The whole thing is just the picture of happiness, warms my stone cold heart. Plus how amazing is Valentina all swaddled in her cashmere. Most well-dressed baby ever.

In this month’s Glamour, Naomi Watts dishes on the pros and cons of being an “older” mother.

In the article, the 39-year-old actress talk about giving six-month-old Alexander (aka Sasha)  a sibling down the road.

When asked about waiting until later in life to start a family, Naomi said:

”Well, for one thing, picking him up off of the ground 20 times is different when you hear your knees cracking! From an intellectual point of vieew, you’ve had a lot of time to do research and figure out how you want to raise him.”

Baby Survives Being Thrown from Blazing Building

This is the amazing moment a baby was thrown from the upper story of a fire-ravaged building - and caught by a hero rescue worker.Nine people, including five children, were killed in the fire in a house in the western German city of Ludwigshafen. A further 24 were taken to hospital, two of whom were in a life-threatening condition .and it is possible that more bodies will be found in the house, which was in danger of collapse, a police spokesman said.

It was unclear what had caused the fire, the spokesman said, adding that 52 people, mostly Turkish citizens, were registered as living in the house.

The number of fatalities could have been higher had a group of police, firemen and other emergency service personnel not been celebrating carnival nearby, the spokesman said. [Read more →]

How to Be Happier, Now

Welcome to a typical mom morning. It begins when your toddler dive-bombs into your bed at 5 a.m. You stumble through the dark for an eyes-half-open diaper change. Next comes breakfast. The daily recipe: spilled milk and fistfuls of Cheerios dumped on the floor. Then you do the dishes and get your child dressed, all before you drink your morning coffee. Are we having fun yet? The answer is not so simple.

Being a parent is inspiring and rewarding, but it’s also demanding and thankless. A recent Princeton University survey found that typical child-care tasks are roughly as pleasurable as housework-in other words, not very. But the fact is that our kids are our pride and joy. How can this be, when they’re also a drag on our quality of life?

When can my baby go to a movie in a theatre?

If your 3-year-old routinely sits through a video at home, he might be ready to go to the theater for a “first run” show. “Just be aware that watching a movie in a darkened theater will be a very different experience for him than watching a video in the familiarity of your family room,” says Victoria J. Youcha, of Zero to Three,a nonprofit organization devoted to the healthy development of infants and toddlers. “Some children as old as 5 or 6 are overwhelmed by the experience.”
